Job Summary:

As a Training and Development Specialist, you will support all phases of the instructional design for ongoing educational opportunities for Orbis Education’s educational partners. You should have experience and expertise in the development of online learning that incorporates various media (e.g., audio, video, animations). You will serve as the instructional design expert for professional development trainings for faculty and staff at our educational partners. In addition, you will have the opportunity to create quality online courses and act as a project manager. You will collaborate with the SME(s) and Training and Development Manager to evaluate the design and make recommendations to enhance the faculty experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Partners with subject matter experts (SME) to create effective online professional development
    • Specify learning outcomes and create instructional materials using the ADDIE model
    • Assists in creating instructional materials for faculty/staff such as pre/post assessments and other various materials for the faculty’s benefit
    • Work with healthcare educator (SME) to design, storyboard, and produce interactive instructional materials that support the learning outcomes
    • Use e-learning authoring tools to create digital assets, learning objects, and/or interactive instructional materials that support the learning outcomes
    • Establish rapport with healthcare faculty and staff and Orbis academics to encourage engagement of professional development
    • Escalates issues to Training and Development Manager as needed
    • Conducts a quality control check on the finished seminar in the learning management system.
    • Provides recommendations on content flow and layout that will provide the best user experience in an online training course
  • Project manage the instructional design process from start to finish
  • Manage all aspects of the instructional design (ADDIE) process
  • Create necessary timelines and schedules for SMEs and internal staff to ensure on-time delivery
  • Communicates progress, barriers, and/or risks to Training and Development team
  • Maintain instructional integrity through the implementation and review of formal evaluation methods
  • Act as support for questions and improvement opportunities related to instructional design
  • Works in collaboration with Training and Development team to evaluate and make recommendations that address faculty development needs at our academic partners
  • Supports Training and Development initiatives including but not limited to annual updates, research, building, and/or delivering training
  • Seeks out innovative products and resources; propose to Director of Training and Development, implement use
  • Collaborates and participates in duties and activities in relation to annual Engagement in Healthcare Education Conference
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Ability to design education and training solutions
  • Master’s degree in instructional design, instructional technology, educational technology preferred
  • At least 1-2 years of instructional design experience preferred
  • Experience and expertise in adult learning principles
  • Experience working with subject matter experts
  • Expertise in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat
  • Proficiency in graphic editing tools, HTML, and e-learning authoring tools preferred
  • Strong project management skills
  • Basic data analysis and evaluation skills
