Job Description
The Notre Dame of Maryland University ABSN Program is seeking several Standardized Patients (SP) to support students' learning while in simulated healthcare scenarios. Individuals are trained and provided educational material to support specifics of the learning scenario. SPs take on the characteristics of a real patient thereby affording the student an opportunity to learn and to be evaluated on learned skills in a simulated clinical environment. Academic Partner: Notre Dame of Maryland University ABSN Program
Site Location: 6810 Deerpath Road, Elkridge MD
Schedule: Part time, Mon-Fri based on student simulation schedule
What You Will Do:
- Portray all aspects of the patient scenario, including history of current problem, affect/behavior and physical findings in a standardized, accurate, and reliable manner.
- Present case history in response to questioning by the student
- Undergo a limited physical examination at the student's direction
- Assist students in developing their communication and clinical skills
- Assist students in working through difficult emotional situations in a safe environment
What You Will Have:
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check
- Must pass a pre-health physical exam
- ?Ability to work well with a variety of people
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a variety of people
- Ability to maintain focus during the scheduled exam days
- Lack of bias towards the healthcare system
- Capacity for flexibility and adaptability during the exam day; multiple patient scenarios may be portrayed during a scheduled exam day.
- Comfort with their own body and examinations by healthcare professionals
