Job Description

The Nursing Lab Coordinator is responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of clinical nursing skills laboratory activities, including preparation for student instruction under the direction of the nursing faculty, scheduling of center, ordering  equipment and supplies, and preparing clinical stations for specified assignments. The Nursing Lab Coordinator will assume responsibilities as determined by the Clinical Lab Faculty Leader . This includes, but is not limited to, maintenance and inventory updates,  promotion of safe lab practices, assisting with clinical simulations, lab scheduling, technology support, and serving as a back-up exam proctor. The Nursing Lab Coordinator should be a medical technical professional. The Nursing Lab Coordinator will preferably have at least one year of clinical experience in a medical, surgical or specialty area.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage Clinical Nursing Activities within Clinical Skills Lab

  • Coordinates day-to-day activities in the nursing clinical skills lab including scheduling, set-up and take-down of lab activities under the direction of the nursing clinical faculty
  • Provides assistance to faculty and/or students in the clinical lab setting

Serve as Clinical Resource for Lab Compliance       

  • Adheres to CCNE and College/University lab standards  
  • Assists with clinical lab policies and procedures
  • May research, evaluate, and recommend new lab materials, equipment and supplies

Maintain Clinical Skills Lab

  • Ensures that lab is clean, safe, and organized
  • Promotes safe lab practices
  • Coordinates maintenance and repair of clinical equipment
  • Conducts quarterly equipment inventories
  • Maintains par levels of clinical lab supplies
     

Other Duties

  • Serve as exam proctor as needed

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Competencies:

  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational skills
  • Self-directed with the ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities on a daily basis
  • Basic Microsoft Office computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Ability to provide clinical skills instruction support under the direction of the clinical faculty

Experience and Education:

  • LPN, CNA or LPNA applicants welcome!
  • Experienced medical/technical professional
  • At least one year experience in medical/technical field
  • Technical degree in a medical/technical profession
  • Minimum Associate Degree or Certification or relevant license in related field
