POSITION SUMMARY: The Unity Extended Reality (XR) Developer l acts as part of the tight-knit Product Development Team working in conjunction with instructional designers and faculty subject matter experts to develop interactive simulations and applications that work across MR, VR, AR, mobile, and desktop platforms.

This is a great opportunity for a junior or entry level developer to work on cutting edge technology that will greatly influence the future of medical training with the opportunity for advancement in a fast growing company. We prefer to have the candidate located in the Indianapolis area, but remote applicants will be considered with appropriate qualifications.

Develop a Variety of Interactive XR Simulations and applications Improve and Scale the Existing Products and Tools Identify, Debug, and Resolve Issues Pertaining to Our Interactive Simulations and Applications Documentation and Training


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                                     

This position is responsible for assisting in the development of interactive instructional media. This includes but is not limited to the following areas:

Develop a Variety of Interactive XR Simulations and applications

  • Work with the Product Development Team, Instructional Designers, and Subject Matter Experts to create ground-breaking medical training simulations and applications to improve student experiences and outcomes
  • Assist with all the aspects of the product lifecycle
  • Present timely delivery of completed simulations and applications

Improve and Scale the Existing Products

  • Provide feedback and suggestions to improve simulations and applications
  • Continue research of development trends and opportunities to support the success and expansion of our products

Identify, Debug, and Resolve Issues Pertaining to Our Interactive Simulations and Applications

  • Ensure quality and consistency of simulations and applications
  • Ensure simulations and applications are usable in a consistent manner across devices
  • Work with students, faculty, and team members to troubleshoot and resolve issues

Documentation and Training

  • Help build and refine documentation, including workflows, checklists, and style guides
  • Train Simulation Operations Specialists (SOS), team members, and faculty to implement products
  • Participate in special projects as required


  • Competencies: 
    • Strong understanding of C# scripting for Unity 2D/3D applications across devices
    • Strong understanding of Object- and Component-Oriented Programming
    • Ability to gather and define specifications and requirements based on technical needs
    • Ability to write straightforward, clean, and commented code
    • Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on multiple projects of varying complexity and deadlines
    • Strong troubleshooting skillset
    • Strong analytical skills and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
    • Willingness to advocate for additional improvements to our technology and processes
    • Willingness to assume additional responsibilities as required

  • Preferred Experience:
    • 1+ years of C#/Unity development
    • Experience developing Mixed Reality, Augmented Reality and/or Virtual Reality applications
    • Experience developing with MRTK Toolkit, AR Foundation, Vuforia
    • Experience integrating 3D characters, animations, and assets in Unity
    • Experience optimizing for performance and memory footprint
    • Experience developing, programming, and supporting content for training simulations
    • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)

  • Bonus Experience:
    • Experience developing a chatbot or virtual assistant using a cognitive service such as Watson Assistant, LUIS, or Dialogflow
    • Experience with version control software such as Plastic SCM or github
    • Experience with issue tracking software such as zoho or jira

  •  Education and Certification:
    • Bachelor’s degree or any combination of equivalent certifications, experience and/or education in Computer Science, Software Development, or a related field
    • 1+ years of work experience in a related game, simulation, application development position

  •  Please Provide:
    • Source code examples and recent production work with detailed breakdown of what you've done (for team projects)
